Disney hotel or a villa — which is actually cheaper?

The short answer

Usually the villa on pure money — but only after adding the car hire, $30-35/day park parking, and petrol the villa needs. The gap is often smaller than either camp claims, and Disney's 7-day Lightning Lane booking head start is worth real value to some families.

Villa listings look dramatically cheaper because the comparison is dishonest in both directions: villa quotes omit the car ecosystem they require, and resort quotes get credited with 'deluxe' perks most bookings don't include.

The honest comparison: villa + car + parking + petrol − kitchen savings, versus resort + free park parking + Disney transport. Run your actual quotes, not vibes.

The non-financial factors are the real decision for many: space and a private pool versus proximity and the earlier Lightning Lane booking window. Neither is wrong; they're different holidays.
